According to the National Association of Realtors, Charleston is among the top 10 markets that they predict will preform very well in a post-COVID environment.
Our housing market here in Charleston isn't just expected to be thriving post-COVID, but it's predicted it will be this way for the next few years. This can be attributed, according to the Charleston Regional Business Journal, to the relatively affordable housing in comparison to other areas, constant job growth, and local economic expansion. Both employers and residents alike are being drawn to Charleston because of these reasons.
Over the last 10 years the City of Charleston's population has grown by 25%, adding over 30,000 residents to the region. It's expected that over the next 10 years, we will grow another 25% or more. With this population growth, one can expect that median prices are going to be increasing. In the last 5 years alone, Charleston home values have increased by more than 54%, and inventory has decreased by 47% year-over-year.
